Reviews: CD & Live Ministry

The Joy Of Losing - CD

Rob Hawkins - Songwriter / Producer / Former lead guitarist for Jeff Deyo
...So anyway, I was just listening to the album, and man, it really is great. I don't say this lightly (in fact, I'm not sure if I've ever said it), but there really is something spiritual about that music. I actually felt the presence of God while I was listening to it, and I couldn't help but start to worship. Again, I'm not the kind of person who throws that around... Man, I know something's gonna happen with this album. I expected it to be good, but I'm blown away by it...

I've just been listening to Brett Barry's new "The Joy of Losing" recording. The messages have come out of a living relationship with Jesus. Life-transforming messages and anointed music. Brett is a man of God who is walking what he is speaking. He is also a man under authority and thus a man of authority. Listen to him and let the Lord do His work in your heart.

Morgan Cryer - Artist / Writer / Producer
I listened to this new project and, even though I was alone, I opened my mouth and said aloud "Surely, these men have been with Jesus." I was challenged as a worshipper, but most of all I was challenged as a man to be a man of God. Thank you, Brett Barry, for this work.

As I was taking my kids to school on a Monday morning (3 minute drive), I put Brett's CD in for the first time. By the time I dropped them off, I was crying under the power of the Holy Spirit. From there I had planned on going to the YMCA to work out, but I was weeping so hard I had to go home. When I got home, I took the CD into the house and started listening to it again, and when I did, I was completely overwhelmed by the power and anointing of the Spirit of God. I laid on my face for about 30-45 minutes weeping and crying. It was an extraordinary experience with Jesus. Thank you Brett for your obedience to make this wonderful weapon for ushering in the presence of God.

Brett and his band of "Merry Men" are the "Bomb". What a tremendous anointing to help others enter the presence of God. As the leader of the city prayer initiative for Murfreesboro, I have been captured by the servant heart of Brett's team and their willingness to engage with others in pursuit of God's best. I commend them to anyone wanting a convergence of prayer and worship. They are truly a tool in the hand of God for our region.

I have hosted several concerts with Brett for both youth and my adult congregation. Brett is personable, easy to work with and flexible financially. He hears from the Holy Spirit and is able to lead in worship as well as entertain.

I know you won't be disappointed if you pursue bringing Brett in for one of your services, youth meetings or concerts.

I have found Brett to be one of the most effective musicians I have ever worked with or heard in spreading the love and hope that can be found in Christ. Brett doesn't come to perform, he comes to minister and to build relationships. He is genuine and transparent with the youth and has a real impact on their lives. I have seen him lead many students to Christ.

A terrific asset to Brett's ministry is his wife, Erin. She is a wonderful partner and a great communicator in a large or small group setting. Together, they are a strong team.

I highly recommend Brett and Erin to anyone who is looking to impact young people's lives with the love of Christ.

As the parent of a youth member, I had the opportunity to chaperon a youth event at which Brett Barry presented the gospel through music and testimony. Not only was his program one which the students could relate to, but he spoke on important topics and made Biblical precepts clear through personal examples.

Brett also sang at two worship services. His love for God and His word was evident in the way he presented his message through word and song, communicating effectively to a wide range of ages.

Should the opportunity arise for your organization to include Brett, I would encourage you to do so. There will be fruit.

To all who might need a Christian troubadour, one who will come among you and give not only his song but also himself, I, without reservation, recommend Brett Barry. He is talented, cooperative and committed to Christ.

His talent:  Brett is an adept songwriter and gifted performer. Some of his songs explored and revealed our longings for God, and some disclosed the heart of God, underlining in music what scripture clearly says. Our students loved him.

His cooperation: Brett was sensitive to the vision that we had for our event, Christival. He came to share his gifts, not to dominate. He understood that Jesus was to be the highlight of the week and that others had put much time into planning and praying for Christival.

He made himself available to students after each session and he worked well with our speaker for the week. Though he is a professional he was flexible, blending his ideas with those of the planning team.

His commitment to Christ: Brett was spiritually prepared for the week. He showed the presence of Christ in all of his dealings. He came as a servant and a messenger of Good News.
